UAE bet shows way in PBC open singles tilt

Shaker Alhassan of United Arab Emirates rolled a 1077 series Sunday to lead the mens open singles event in the 34th Philippine Bowling Congress Euro-Med International Open Championships at the Pearl Bowling Center in Paranaque City.
Alhassan posted lines of 298, 246, 265 and 268 to take a 75-pin advantage over national youth Jeff Chan, who had a total of 1002 (222-268-266-246). TBAMs Ian Dychangco placed third with 975 (268-212-275-220).
Alhassans 1077 also gave him the lead in the foreign open division. His teammate Mohd Almajili scored (939) for second place followed by Thailands Surasak Manuwong (913), Tosrin Kunawat (910) and Australian Andrew Frawley (898). Singaporean Yap Seok Kim topped the ladies qualifiers with 866 followed by Indonesian Sharon Limansanto (852), Thailands Lukkhana Panya (769) and Gunnnalada Aree (723), and Hong Kongs Violet Yung (651).
In the youth masters event, Jeff Chans 1002 put him on top of the boys division followed by Ian Dychangcos 975 and Frederick Ongs 937 (267-189-257-224). Apple Posadas kept the lead in the girls division with 929 followed by Angeli Lao (829), Cheche Abrantes (827), Lara Posadas (806) and Sheena Go (794).
In the mens open doubles, Thailands Somkiat Sea-Tang and Terporn Manophaibo scored 929 pinfalls to dislodge RP-Eastwoods Markwin Tee and Tyrone Ongpauco for second place. The Filipino tandem totalled 926 pinfalls. Thailands Somjade Kusonpithak and Yannaphon Larapharat remained on top with 964.
In the mens Class B division, Paolo Joquico and Ricky Esteban tallied 845 to grab the lead from TBAIs Larry Tinio and Ernie Gutierrez, who scored 828 pinfalls. RP-Eastwoods Alfred Arreza and JP Lao scored 825 to take third spot.
