UE bets advance in Del Monte badminton

University of the East bets Heidenberg Dimarucut and Rodil Sertan scored similar easy wins yesterday to reach the mens singles round-of-16 in the Del Monte 202 Cup First Philippine Collegiate Badminton Open at The Zone in Malugay, Makati.
Dimarucut demolished TIPs Margil De Asas, 15-1, 15-1, to advance against FEUs Jimson Dionisio, a 15-6, 15-3 winner over Zefanio Membrere.
Sertan, on the other hand, scored a 15-2, 15-1 victory over PSBAs Frederick Importado to advance against NEUSTs Ronald Arma, who beat Lyceums Alexie Gonzalo, 15-3, 15-1.
Other winners were USTs Reynaldo Selga, Adamsons Ronald Magallanes, Ramil Magallanes and Darwin de Roxas, La Salles Rodel Dawan and Rhaul Angeles, NEUSTs Alfredo Angeles and Raymond Vega, FEUs Wilson Frias, Perpetuals Hendra Tan, TUPs Marlon Escueta and TIPs Edison Serrano.
In the ladies singles, UPs Ronielle Kagalingan downed St.Scholasticas Jennylyn Vicencio, 11-6, 11-8, and Lyceums Mary Saavedra clobbered TIPs Rachelle Villareal, 11-2, 11-2, to earn second-round berths.
Also advancing were USTs Kathleen Anasco and Rose Ann dela Cruz, La Salles Michelle Guerrero and Therine Chan, FEUs Mary Ann Sebastian and Criselda Sarabia, UEs Jane de Jesus, UPs Liza Sormillo, Sacred Hearts Jolywin Rodil and Kathlyn Glindro, Siennas Julie Anne Zuniga, JRUs Gennesis dela Cruz and WCCs Adeline Pardo.
