UAP, Miriam spikers triumph

University of Assumption-Pampanga, Miriam College and host school San Beda-Alabang scored convincing wins over the weekend to lead their respective divisions in the WNCAA 35th season volleyball tournament.

UA-P, third placer last season, stopped SBCA, 25-10, 25-14, 25-11, at the RTU gym Sunday for its third win in as many games and the solo lead in the seniors division.

In the juniors level, Miriam likewise grabbed the solo lead at 3-0 after downing UA-P, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20, at the EAC gym also last Sunday.

SBCA, meanwhile, joined Miriam at the top of the midgets leaderboard when it defeated De La Salle-Zobel, 25-23, 25-11. Both SBCA and Miriam sport 2-0 slates.

The WNCAA 35th season is co-presented by Kotex and sponsored by adidas, The Philippine Star, RPN 9, Monster Radio RX 93.1, Pantene and Café Lupe, in cooperation with Cadbury, Goldilocks, Powerade, Molten, Mikasa and Rustan’s Essenses.

In basketball competition at the St. Scho gym Sunday, Miriam won over Siena College of Quezon City, 71-28, to share the seniors lead with Lyceum of the Philippines at 2-0.
