Altas seek revenge vs dangerous Red Lions; Cards face Dolphins

-
Host Perpetual Help seeks to keep its place at the helm as it battles dangerous San Beda today in the NCAA basketball tournament at the Rizal Coliseum.

Meanwhile, commissioner Ricky Palou has recommended to the NCAA Management Committee (Mancom) that Letran High’s John Cabarabia be suspended for a game for throwing a punch during their match against St. Benilde Friday.

Atop the heap with a 6-2 (win-loss) record, the Altas also hope to bounce back from a stinging 62-71 loss, which snapped a six-game streak, to the Philippine Christian U Dolphins Wednesday with a win over the Red Lions in their 4 p.m. encounter.

But San Beda, tied with PCU at fifth spot with a 4-4 slate, is in high spirits following a 79-73 edging of Mapua also Wednesday, making it a dangerous opponent against a Perpetual team that has never won a title since its entry into the league two decades ago.

Skipper Arjun Cordero, who delivered the killer blows in his team’s recent win that snapped a frustrating skid, is expected to churn out another explosive effort for the Nash Racela-mentored Lions.

Cordero, however, will be up against a formidable team that heavily relies on the prolific troika of Dom Javier, sophomore Vladimir Joe and rookie sensation Fritz Bauzon.

Like the Altas, the Cardinals also want to regain winning ways as they tackle the defense-oriented Dolphins at 1 p.m.
