Knights, Dolphins seek solo second
July 9, 2004 | 12:00am
Defending champion Letran and Philippine Christian U seek to come out of a three-way logjam and hopefully gain solo second as the two take on Jose Rizal and San Sebastian, respectively, today in the 80th NCAA basketball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
Both the Knights and the Dolphins walloped the San Beda Red Lions with Letran accomplishing it Wednesday (95-75) and PCU doing it Monday (55-42) to create a three-way tie with the host Perpetual Help Altas on 2-1 (win-loss) records at No. 2 spot behind unbeaten Mapua Cardinals (3-0).
Letran shoots for win No. 3 when it clashes with a skidding Jose Rizal side at 4 p.m. while PCU seeks to accomplish the same goal against San Sebastian, winless in two starts, in their 2 p.m. encounter.
Either the Knights or the Dolphins will gain solo second if one of them prevail in their assignment and the other succumb to their rivals.
