JVC Open may serve as SEAG qualifier

-
With a high-level of competition expected in the JVC Open badminton championships, the annual tournament now on its third year may likely be considered as one of the qualifying meets to determine members of the national team in next year’s Southeast Asian Games.

Being a yearly affair that gathers some of the country’s finest players, including national pool members, former national player-coach and now JVC Open tournament director Nelson Asuncion said the event may easily be qualified for inclusion in the calendar of events being organized by the Philippine Badminton Association (PBA) involving the national team.

"Since this has been going on a yearly basis, puwede nang i-consider ito in the same breath as the National Open. And I think this may serve as one of the qualifying meets for next year’s SEA Games," said Asuncion.

Asuncion guested in the PSA Forum at the Manila Pavilion yesterday with Princess Galura, country manager of the organzing International Management Group and Joana Enriquez.

The three agreed that the tournament organized by JVC since 2002 has contributed immensely to the continuous growth of badminton in the country.
