Gokongwei Group hosts badminton tiff

-
The Gokongwei Group Badminton Tournament 2004 (GGBT) is sure to usher in more fun and exciting competitions this year as GGBT holds its second year of wholesome teambuilding action.

The second GGBT will be held on June 26 at the Yonex Badminton Club in Mandaluyong City, one of the country’s premier badminton clubs.

Sixteen business units and corporate center groups from the Gokongwei Group of Companies are participating in various events -- men’s doubles, ladies doubles, mixed doubles, open category and team.

Tournament participants come from business units and corporate center groups including URC-Agro, URC-branded, URC-flour, Cebu Pacific, Big R, Robinson’s Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Handyman, Robinsons Land Holiday Inn Galleria Manila, JG Management Trainees, Petrochem, Sun Cellular, Digitel LEC, JG Summit, Robinson’s Bank, Summit Media, Litton Mills, Controllership and Mini Stop.

Trophies and badminton equipment await the category winners and team champion while major raffle prizes will be given away to lucky tournament participants.

"Last year’s event was a success because the friendly competition fostered camaraderie among employees within the business unit and other business units in the group while engaging in a fun activity. We aim to open up once more, networking possibilities and tie-ups among the different business units, as it did in the first GGBT," according to organizing committee member Ivy Cayayan.

The Gokongwei Group Badminton Tournament started last year with over 200 employees from 13 business units. Now we are up to 16," added tournament director EG Lim.
