Longshots show way in World Slashers

Longshots ruled the World Slashers qualifying round Tuesday with the likes of KGB Vertical of Francis Lumunsad and Cito Alberto and Romy Castro’s Smarty Joe scoring identical two points before a big crowd at the Araneta Coliseum.

Joining them at the helm were the Lucy Rin-I Firefly Binangonan of the California trio of Rene Medina, Ken Graham, and Ric de Guzman, Rey Briones (Islander-RB); Rommel Bona (Four D’Boys); Honey Yu and Larry Cua (CCL Hony Binangonan); Sonny Lagon (Blue Blade San Pablo) Ruel Ricafort, Boy Ledesma and Edgar Santos (RT 114 Victory 223); Alex Tang (Silver Buck); Edwin Bacud and Ampil brothers (Air Assault NGBA); Jet Fernando (Jima Fer Mapalad-II); Tony Tan (Swing MG); and Claude Bautista (CPB Farm Binangonan).

Scoring one win and a loss in the event, sponsored by Univet Thunderbird Feeds and the Journal Group of Publications and hosted by Jun Santiago, Nene Araneta and Ito Ynares, were defending champion Rudy Salud, who partnered with Lito Orillaza and William Co; Nene Araneta, who teamed up with Roger Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia and Ray "Stingray" Alexander; and Rudy Albano.
