Fil-Chinese beach volleyball gets underway today

A total of 18 teams see action in the first Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation (FCAAF) Beach Volley at the Cove which kicks off today at the Island Cove Resort and Leisure Park in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite.
Thirteen teams are entered in the distaff side while five squads play in the boys division of the first ever beach volleyball meet featuring Filipino-Chinese high school players as organized by the FCAAF volleyball committee and Network Events Experts (Next).
Among the participating schools include Philippine Cultural High (two teams), Makati Hope Christian School (two teams), Immaculate Concepcion Academy (two teams), Southville International School and Colleges (two teams), San Antonio de Padua-Laguna (two teams), Philippine Institute of Quezon City (one team) and Philadelphia School (two teams) in the girls side.
The boys division will have Xavier School (two teams), Philippine Cultural High School (one team), Makati Hope Christian School (one team) and Philippine Institute of Quezon City (one team).
The two-day meet, sponsored by the FCAAF and Island Cove Resort and Leisure Park and supported by Kyb Corp., Ichigo Finger Foods, La Salle Greenhills, Extended Play, Greenhills, MIKASA with airing over ABC-5, plays its elimination round today with the semifinals and finals, respectively, set tomorrow.
Format is a single round elimination play (matches are single set to 21 points) with the top four ranked teams (based on sand points) from each group advancing to the crossover semifinals.
