Reese takes over from Ellis at Ginebra

Barangay Ginebra has finally found an import who will take over Rosell Ellis in former Ohio State mainstay George Reese.

Reese, who is fresh from a stint in the French league, arrived Wednesday night. However, Ginebra coach Allan Caidic said they may still play with Ellis in tow versus San Miguel Beer tomorrow as he wants Reese to blend with his teammates first before plunging into action in the local pro league.

Caidic’s first choices were Tyrone Nesby and Ace Custis. Both couldn’t fly in because of commitment in the other leagues.

Though starting well with Ellis, Caidic opted to enlist Reese who is much taller, afraid they would have a hard time matching up with tall teams like Talk n Text, Red Bull Barako and San Miguel Beer.

"Sa San Miguel lang sa Sabado, makikita natin how Ellis would fare against tall defenders. Kung mga 6-5 lang sana si Ellis, siya na sana ang import namin for the duration of the tournament" said Caidic of Ellis, who stands only 6-foot-2 1/2. Reese is listed 6-8.
