Southwoods hangs on to 2-shot edge

BAGUIO CITY — The unstoppable Manila Southwoods scored a three-day aggregate of 390 points to hang on the lead with two points advantage against Riviera Golf and Country Club’s 388 in the fight for honors in the premier Sunflower flight in the Fil-Division in the Fil-Am Ladies golf tournament.

Tracy Locsin scored 45 points at the hilly and short par 61 Baguio Country Club golf course.

Locsin, the team captain of Manila Southwoods also leads the individual honors with 129 points over arch-rival Cha Diciano’s 108 of host Camp John Hay.

Her teammates Marilyn Ty (30), Heidi Schetkatt and Glenda da Roza who scored 29 points apiece also led Southwoods’ 133 points output yesterday.

Riviera Golf and Country Club parbusters turned in 135 points with Nathalie Yu leading the charge with 39 points. Beth Menchavez backed her up with 33 while, Rossie Guerrero and Josie Amon tossed in 32 and 31 points, respectively.

Leonor Corpuz and Anne Philipps each shot 36 points, led co-host Camp John Hay’s 142 points third round performance, giving their team a three-day output score 419 in the Chrysanthemum flight (Fil).

Philippine Navy was in second spot with 372 while Alabang Country Club 347.

Sonia Bruce and Norma Lawrence each carded 33 points to power co-host Baguio Country Club Team 1’s 123 points yesterday to give their team 353 three-round total points in the Magnolia (Fil). BCC Team 2 trailed behind with 320 while Victoria’s GCC 308.

In the Am Division, Camp John Hay was on top of Sunflower flight with 336 while Philippine Navy GC with 271 points.

Host Baguio Country Club Teams 1 and 2 anchored Chrysanthemum flight with 275 and 232 points, respectively.

The final round of this tournament, which is supported by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), WH Consultants, Harle Philippines, Inc., Rustan’s, Wilson, Seattle’s Best and Smart, shifts to Camp John Hay today.
