Serbidad, Yambao top Beam-Zest-O Manila leg

Ronaldo Serbidad and Liza Yambao emerged on top of over 500 runners who participated in the Beam-Zest-O Patakbong Pinoy yesterday by bagging the mens and womens division plums, respectively, in the 5K race, which started and ended at the Rajah Sulaiman Park in Manila.
Serbidad submitted the days best time of 15 minutes and 20 seconds to beat Crisenciano Sabal (15:26) and Jojit de Asis (15:36) while Yambao came in much earlier with her clocking of 18:44 while Liza Relox (20:20) and Shella Ninobla (22:20) placed second and third, respectively, in the race jointly conducted by the Media Runners and Sports Promotions and the Direct Link Runners Club.
Serbidad and Yambao took home P3,000 each plus elegant trophies while the second and third placers were good for P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, The race was also held in coordination with the Manila Sports Council headed by Arnold Ali Atienza.
Rounding out the mens division top 10 were Reynaldo de los Reyes, Elmer Sabal, Adonis Lubaton, Noel Recamonda, Romeo Marques, Ramie Lacson and veteran marathoner Rey Antoque.
Making it to the top 10 of the distaff side were Cinderella Agana, Adjennie de los Santos, Daisy Castillon, Dianne Grace Calaje, Corina Doyro, Mercedes Mercado and Miriam Cruz.
Top placers in the age categories were Rodel Relox and Junessa Mapa (19-and-below), Michael Mendoza and Dada Bugnon (20-29), Joel Raneses and Johana Lim (30-39), Juanito del Rosario and Rosario Rodriguez (40-49), Danilo Burdegs and Norma Roxas (50-59) and Jose de la Cruz and Teofila Castillon (60 and above).
"We are very happy with the turnout of entries. And the partnership with the Direct Link Runners Club only shows that we can all unify for the benefit of the serious runners," said Jonel Promotions head Nelson Macaraig.
