Liza Galore-Firefly paces finalists in World Slasher

Eddie Araneta’s Liza Galore-Firefly scored four victories to lead 84 other teams to the championship round of the World Slasher at the Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.

Also advancing with perfect scores are Greenwood Balbina of last year’s NCA and UCAP Stag Fighter of the Year Butch Macasaet, Greenwood Balbina-I of newcomer Pedrito Morales, Winning Time Jobo of Lito Orillaza and Rudy Salud, MTJ Bros of Marcel Julao, and darkhorse Crystal Black Mamba of another first-timer — Nelson Castro.

Jun Topacio’s JT Emerald and Ronnie Puno’s Sundance I posted 3 1/2 points, while Jimafer Mapalad-II led the three-pointer group which includes Dada Guam-SL Gapan, Sabong RT 114 ONS 808l MTJ Bros-I, Clear Cut Jimafer Mapalad-I, PEBR Firefly-II, Cat Stinger, Old Time Nevada Bumble Bee, LCC Binangonan, HNRG, Rod Barro BM Bulalayaw-II, San Francisco JM-Firefly, PEBR Firefly-II, PEBR Firefly-IV, Bag Pusoy BL-I, Hok Lai Blue Blade, JBL Live and Let Die Red Gen-III and Mulawin-I.

Also scoring three points are Jorge Araneta and Ray Alexander’s Thunderbird Firefly-Stingray and Thunder Firefly-Hatchet of Araneta and Roger Roberts.

Organizers of the event, hosted by Nene Araneta, Jun Santiago and Ito Ynares, said the championship will be held tonight. Tickets are pegged at P400, P500 and P700.
