Harry’s Up in hurry to post third win in row

-
Harry’s Up 1 dealt Claret School its first loss 66-59 in the 13 and under division of the SMC Holiday Hoop Challenge in the third day of the elimination to lead the six-team Group A with a 3-0 win loss card.

A total of 24 teams are participating in this competition, an offshoot of the successful SMC Basketball Goodwill Circuit headed by Coach Eric Altamirano.

In the 13-under Group B, La Salle’s B squad beat Barangay Jesus De La Peña, 69-43. La Salle B now totes a 1-2 win loss record to keep its hope alive of earning a slot in the semis. The top two teams from each group will figure in a cross-over semis that will determine the finalists of the competition supported by the resources of some of SMC’s major brands like those of Magnolia poultry and dairy products, Purefoods, Purefoods-Hormel and Monterey’s meat products as well as Cali, B-Meg, and products of Philippine Beverage Partners Inc. including Magnolia fruit juices, FunChum, and Viva! and those from San Miguel’s flour business will also support the event.

The 16-under team of Harry’s Up likewise maintained an immaculate 3-0 slate in Group A , upending New Era, 56-47, in yesterday’s match. San Beda also sustained its winning run in the group with a 66-26 romp over Jose Rizal U, to post a 3-0 record.

Veritas, meanwhile, broke into the 16-under win column, with its 70-41 rout of Hoop It Up.
