YKL outlasts Ansons, cops GCHS cage title

YKL Film got off to a slow start before pulling a 72-65 win over Ansons and capture the 2003 GCHS Inter-Batch Alumni basketball tournament at the GCHS gym.
Christian Lim led the winner with 22 points and was instrumental in YKLs pressing defense that held Ansons to 10 points in the second period.
Dexter Quan had 13 of his 23 points in the first quarter as Ansons raced to a 17-8 lead. But YKL exploded for 25 points in the second quarter to take a 33-27 advantage at halftime.
Alvin Anne Lim and Gilbert Sanidad chipped in 18 and 15 for YKL, doing most of the damage in their murderous second quarter run.
YKL, coached by Willy Chan, forced Ansons to a spate of turnovers in the pay-off period to douse its repeated rallies.
UCM Cooling Coils, meanwhile, rallied from 34-42 halftime deficit to bag third place over last years champion Konka, 74-70.
Albert Chua paced the Cooling Coils with 23 points while Jeffrey Ang and Johannes Go added 13 and 12, putting to waste the 31-point production of Lin Yih Liang.
