-
CEBU CITY–Nearly a thousand fitness enthusiasts of all ages are expected to fill the major thoroughfares of this Queen City of the South as the Osaka Iridology Anniversary Run starts and ends in front of the capitol building here.

A total of P50,000 cash prizes plus gift packs containing Osaka natural health products will be given away to the winners of this event that features contests in various categories: the Men’s Open, Women’s Open Masters A, Masters B, Executive A and Executive B.

Leading the contenders in the Men’s Open division are Cebu’s prominent marathon figures Rowen Montecillo, Rogelio Reli and Tirso Pamaybay.

Now on its fourth year, the route of the Osaka Iridology 10-km run will have the participants pass through historic places in the city such as the Colon St., the oldest street in the country and Plaza Independencia, the city park that houses one of the oldest Spanish forts.

"Not only we emphasize health awareness in this event, we also would like to showcase historic areas in this city where our Osaka Iridology was born eight years ago," said Osaka Iridology CEO and president Jonathan Guardo who’s a race participant himself.

He will compete in the executive division along with his brothers Jerry, Jeson and Jose Jr.

Joining them are RTC judge Gabriel Ingles, Dr. Abraham Malawe, Cebu Port Authority manager Oscar Lopez, Wyeth regional manager Reli Mercado, Duever Durano, Sunsport executive Allan Chuachoy and Osaka human resources director Ariel Guardo.
