DASMARINAS, CaviteNational player James Yap took time off from the RP team practice and led University of the East to 93-65 decision over winless University of St. La Salle-Bacolod yesterday in the eighth National University Games at the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas Gym.
Yap fired 19 points for the Warriors third successive win, the same feat of La Salle-Manila and Adamson U.
The Green Archers nipped Foundation University, 74-71, behind the heroics of the UAAP top rookie JV Casio while the Falcons fashioned out a 77-69 win over erstwhile unbeaten Emilio Aguinaldo College-Manila to grab solo lead in Bracket C.
Michael Remarete fired 26 points and Mark Natividad canned in a triple at the buzzer as Ateneo de Davao shocked Angeles University in the other game.

In volleyball, newly-crowned UAAP distaff champ De La Salle-Manila beat St. Jude College, 25-20, 25-21 and 25-13 with UAAP MVP Desiree Hernandez taking charge for the Lady Archers.
The University of Sto. Tomas spikers outclassed the host DLSU-Dasmariñas Lady Patriots, 25-23, 25-16, 24-26 and 25-18, while Adamson pounded Holy Angel University, 25-10, 25-22, 25-15.
Reigning NCAA womens champ Philippine Christian bucked University of the East, 22-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-17, while Foundation University tripped UP-Diliman in a tightly-contested match, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-21.

The male paddlers of State U, however, atoned for its loss in the womens side by also sweeping Philippine Christian-Dasmariñas, 3-0. Another sweep was registered by Jose B.Lacson College Foundation, which beat Assumption University.
In mens football, the West Negros College rampaged to its third straight win by spanking De La Salle-Manila, 7-1. In another match, Foundation University and University of Manila, because of the relentless play of their goalies, had to settle for a 3-3 stand off as both teams didnt score in the final three minutes.
