Siso clan shines in Osaka netfest

-
The Siso clan is threatening to turn the Osaka Junior Tennis Circuit into a family affair.

Bernardine Nino Siso defeated newcomer Ronald Roderos, 6-2, 6-2, in the boys’ 12-under battle to lead the favorites’ march to the semifinals of this Osaka Iridology-sponsored monthly tournament at the Cebu Country Club.

Siso, currently the country’s No. 1 in the 10-under, was hardly threatened in his elimination round match. The semifinal cast includes fast-rising Cyril Camporedondo who won over Talamban’s Ark Montecalvo, 6-4, 6-4.

Siso’s sister Sally Dine also booked a semifinal seat in the girls’ 12-under where she will meet Marjorie Sollano.

Another Siso in Sally Mae breezed past John Arnel Go in the unisex 10-under division to set up a confrontation with another favorite Joseph Tallo, a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Jacob Lagman.

Also winning in the eliminations were Julius Lagman, Larry Antigua, James Carl Canete and Ryan Repunte in the boys’ 14-under and Jin Querubin, Rossalenda Jaca and Claire Cortez in the distaff side.

John Villa and Julian Lagman disposed of separate foes to set up a semifinal tiff in the boys’ 16-under. Taking the girls’ semis seat were Iris Abellana, Stephanie Vasquez, Rezza Alesna and Kimberly Montecalvo.

The Osaka tennis circuit, held under the auspices of the Cebu City Sports Commission led by chairman Jonathan Guardo, is a monthly event that aims to provide regular exposure to aspiring tennis stars in Cebu and its neighboring provinces in the Visayas.
