October 16, 2003 | 12:00am
Legend International Resorts Ltd. (LIRL), owners and operators of the five-star Legenda Hotel, Grand Seasons Hotel and Legenda Suites in Subic Bay, will stage the third Legend Tee golf tournament on Nov. 8 at the Subic Bay Golf & Country Club in the Subic Bay Freeport.
Spearheaded by Khoo Boo Boon, chief executive officer of LIRL, the tournament aims to raise funds for the countless children and families victimized and traumatized by the armed conflict in Southern Mindanao.
LIRL will work hand-in-hand with Tabang Mindanaw, a non-profit organization supported by charitable business corporation, church and civic entities, in establishing more "sanctuaries of peace" to help the children victims learn to cope with war-trauma and meet their other needs. To further promote this cause, a charity auction is scheduled during the fellowship dinner and awarding ceremonies.
Special prizes are up for grabs in the individual and team competitions. Fun prizes will also be given to the players who make the longest and most accurate drives, shot nearest to the pin and hit the much-coveted hole in one.
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the rules of golf as approved by the R & A Golf Club of St. Andrews and by the local rules of the Subic Bay Golf & Country Club following the Blind Callaway format. Tournament fee is pegged P3,900.
LIRL is one of the earliest and largest investors in the freeport for the past decade and is the biggest international tourism promoter in Subic Bay. In line with its noble cause, LIRL has invited no less than beauty queen, socio-civic worker and Tabang Mindanaw task force member Margie Moran to grace the ceremonial tee-off.
