Organizers of the Beam-Zest-O Patakbong Pinoy have coordinated with the Manila Sports Council (MASCO) to ensure the successful staging of the inaugural 5-km race, which has been reset to Oct. 5 to give runners enough time to register and prepare.
Application forms will be available starting tomorrow from Media Runners and Sports Promotions personnel at the San Andres Sports Complex in Malate, Manila. The registration schedule until Oct 3 is from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Aspirants, who should be at least 18 years of age, need only to accomplish the official entry form, and submit it along with the P50 fee and an empty carton of any variant or size of Beam Toothpaste.
These cartons, to be fillled up with the runners name, address and signature, will be included in the raffle for Beam gift packs after the race set from Luneta portion of Roxas Blvd. to Pablo Ocampo St. (near Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) and back.
This early, there have been numerous queries for the fun run that carries a P3,000 top prize for both the mens and womens divisions. Second and third placers will earn P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, aside from trophies and medals.
"We are happy to have MASCOs help in this event. We recognize the vital part of sports excellence in the citys Buhayin ang Maynila program," said Nelson Macaraig of organizing Media Runners and Sports Promotions and Jonel Promotions.
MASCO, under Arnold "Ali" Atienza, is coming off the successful Manila Marathon last June, where more than 40,000 runners participated.
