Rosales, Delasin among top 35

-
Finishes outside the top 10 in the five of the last six events pulled Jennifer Rosales down from 23rd to 26th place in the money rankings with earnings of $307,686 after 19 legs of the 2003 LPGA Tour.

Winless in four years on the world’s most lucrative women golf circuit, Rosales has recorded four top 10 finishes in 16 tournaments so far, the last a joint second in the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic in June when she lost the crown to Rachel Teske in a four-player playoff.

After that near-victory where she banked a $69,945 paycheck, the 24-year-old Rosales struggled in her next tournaments with a joint 12th-place effort in the recent Sybase Big Apple Classic in New York her best so far.

Last week, the five-time RP Ladies Open champion settled for 35th place in the Evian Masters, a rather uninspiring stint heading to a major championship this week — the Weetabix Women’s British Open in England.

But Rosales made a good account of herself in last year’s edition of one of LPGA Tour’s majors where she tied for fourth place. She actually led the star-studded field in the third round when she fired a career-best 65 only to succumb to final round pressure and settled for fourth.

On the other hand, Fil-Am Dorothy Delasin, a three-leg winner on the tour but who has been on a slump in a long while, is ranked 35th with $217,356 earnings, also in 16 tournaments.

Meanwhile, Swede ace Annika Sorenstam tows the field with $1,242,742 in winnings followed by South Korean Grace Park ($909,446), Juli Inkster ($888,897), Se Ri Pak ($801,658) and Lorena Ochoa ($690,783) in that order.
