Former champion De La Salle and fancied University of the East take on separate opponents today, looking for victories that would give them a share of the lead with Far Eastern U in the 66th UAAP basketball tournament at the Blue Eagles gym.
La Salle hopes to lean on Mark Cardona as the Archers battle the University of the Philippines Maroons at 4 p.m. while UE is pinning its hopes on skipper Paul Artadi as the Warriors go up against the Adamson Falcons at 2 p.m.
"I told him even before this season started that he will have a different role this year, that is to lead to this team," said La Salle coach Franz Pumaren referring to his third year guard.
With Cardona taking charge, the Archers rallied to beat the University of the Santo Tomas Tigers, 88-75, last week.
Artadi, on the other hand, is expected to lead the Warriors to their second win following a thrilling 69-68 victory over the defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles last Sunday.
