Dance Sport tilt unwraps July 12

With more than 100 dancesport athletes from all over the country competing, the Dance Sport Council of the Philippines will stage its seventh mid-year ranking and competitions on July 12, at the Philsport Multi-Purpose Arena in Pasig City.

DSCP president Becky Garcia said these dance couples will be strutting their stuff in the juvenile, junior, youth, senior, pre-Am and amateur categories in both the Latin and Standard divisions, adding there will be seven international licensed adjudicators who are arriving headed by Marcel De Rijk, chair of the Social Dance Committee of the World Dance and Dance Sport Council (WD&DSC).

De Rijk will also conduct workshops and medal examinations for dance teachers in this blue-ribbon affair sponsored by Alaxan, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Olympic Committee, ABC-5, Edsa Shangri-La Hotel and Rainforest Mineral Water.

Competition director Marvie Cojuangco Yulo said a general assembly of all competitors and the annual meeting of members will be held at 5 p.m. on July 10, at the Philsports Arena. The DSCP board is composed of lawyer Noel Laman, chair; Jun Herrera, vice president; lawyer Josefina Saliva, secretary general; Gloria Alcala, treasurer; and lawyer Andresito Fornier, Antonio Lagdameo, Marvie Cojuangco Yulo, Chona Mercado, Edward Hayco, Emma Nieto, Ruby Co, Col. Sonny Yan, Naomi Enriquez and Joel Ocsena, directors.
