Red-hot Liza, Granger march to Masters finals

Liza del Rosario and national team mentor Purvis Granger marched into the women and men’s Open Masters finals of the 32nd Boysen-PBC International Open Bowling Championship at the Green Valley Center in Pasig.

At the end of the qualifying, del Rosario, who won four of the major titles at stake in the two-week long meet, found herself on top of the distaff side with a 3531 total while Granger had 3705 to pace the men’s field.

Five other players in both sides proceed to the stepladder finals of the tournament sponsored by Boysen, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Kegel Asia, Aviva and supported by Prima, Amstar, Astor, BQS Management, Tone Guide, Silver Wings, Mercury Int’l Security Printing, Paper Handling Systems, Confident Feminine Napkins and H.S. Construction.

Wendy Chai of Malaysia (3507), Filipino Liza Clutario (3466), Jesmine Ho of Singapore (3390), Happy Soediyono of Indonesia (3340) and Jennifer Tan also of Singapore (3337) were the others to make the women’s finals.

In the men’s division, Malaysian Azidi Ameran (3594), Hong Kong’s W Siu Hong (3577), Lee Tae Ju of Korea (3561), Jonathan Lim of Malaysia (3541) and Alvin Kwang of Singapore (3513) will join Granger in the championship round.

Being the defending champions, Malaysian Shalik Zukifli and Filipino Frederick Ong, also the Boysen Youth Master titlist, had been given the No. 1 seed in the women’s and men’s division, respectively.
