Three teams seek passage to Nokia grand finals

-
Green Meadows, Bel-Air and Magallanes try to formalize their stint in the grand finals of the Nokia Intervillage golf tournament as they zero in on the top three berths in the final round of the Nokia Intervillage Central tournament today at the Manila Golf Club.

Behind JP Reyes‚ 40-point effort, Greenmeadows stunned the fancied bets by topping the first round of the tournament among villages in Makati and Mandaluyong, scoring 292 Stableford points and beating Bel-Air (286) by six points at the Aoki course of the Eagle Ridge golf complex last May 5.

The highly-touted Magallanes could only churn out a 270, still good enough to secure them the third spot in the event sponsored by Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications.

With the rest of the seven-team field too far behind the top three placers, many believe it will take spectacular rounds for Blue Ridge (240), San Lorenzo (232), Wack Wack and Forbes Park (154) to ever catch up with Greenmeadows, Bel-Air and Magallanes.

Philam Homes, Don Enrique Heights and White Plains were the first finalists in the event backed by Alaxan, Pisanti golf wear, 357 Boracay, BJ Marthel International, PCSO and Kaiseki Japanese Cuisine.
