The Camp John Hay Golf Club (CJHGC), the premier golf course in the countrys summer capital, is staging its first member-guest golf tournament, "The Invitational," today in Baguio City.
Club chair Robert John Sobrepeña will lead the 100 confirmed participants, representing 50 two-man teams, who will battle for top honors and prizes in the two-day golfest.
Smart Communications Inc. is presenting the event together with major sponsors Premiere Wines and Wilson. Other backers are Excell Contractors and Kork Inc.
"It will be two days of fun golf and relaxation at the Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear-designed Augusta-like golf course home to the famous Fil-Am Golf Tournament," Sobrepeña said.
Sobrepeña also bared that the tournament will use the best ball (1st day) and scramble formats (2nd day) to make the competition exciting and the teams to play as a unit.
"These conditions of play effectively promotes teamwork, fun and camaraderie among the players. The concept of team play is the very essence why we are holding this tournament," added Sobrepeña.
All registered teams are staying at the 189-room Camp John Hay Manor Hotel after availing of the special room rate package that were offered for the tournament.
