RP bowlers move up in Boysen-PBC Open

-
The battle in the ladies team event of the 32nd Boysen-PBC International Open further heats up as the RP trio of Liza Clutario, Ellen Ramos and Jojo Canare made headway Monday night at the Green Valley Center in Pasig.

Clutario, Ramos and Canare, all national team members, put together scores of 1226, up from third the previous day to first place in the class O category.

Their effort relegated to second erstwhile leader Boysen-Euromed (1185) anchored by Irene Benitez and to third the other RP squad (1190) bannered by Liza del Rosario.

Otherwise, the rest of the top players kept their respective No. 1 spots four days into the two-week meet sponsored by Boysen, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Kegel Asia, AVIVA and backed by AMSTAR, Astor, BQS Management, Kenway, Tone Guide, Silver Wings, Mercury Int’l Security Printing, Paper Handling Systems, Confident Feminine Napkins and H.S. Pow Construction.

Del Rosario maintained her hold in the class O singles event (946), 50 pins ahead of Cecilia Yap and 82 off the third running Yap. National team coach Purvis Granger also stayed on top of the men’s side (976) although Benny Dytoc nosed out rising 13-year old Jomar Jumapao in second place, 955-954.

Benitez (1674) and Granger (1765) also continue to dominate the ladies and men’s all events (class O), respectively, ditto for the duo of Johnson Cheng and Frederick Ong (940) and Benitez and Ramos (795) in the doubles event (class O) for both men and women.

In other divisions, Apple Posadas and Gene Basa were tops in the ladies and men’s singles (class A) and Janeth Tan and Joe Marante in class B. In class A doubles, it’s Jumapao and Jericho Jumapao in the men’s category while Sudan San Diego and Cristy Suntay showed the way in the distaff side.

The class A team event (men’s) had Gene Basa, Manoy and Sixto Sengson holding sway, with Amielyn Sisperez, Posadas and Lucy Cheng doing the same in the women’s category.
