Toyota gives P.5 million to Players fund

Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation made a donation to the Philippine Basketball Associations (PBA) Player Trust Fund during the PBAs All Star Weekend. TMP donated P500,000 to the players trust fund in recognition of all the past and present PBA players efforts and achievements in elevating basketball as the countrys top sporting event. Toyota is the first corporation to donate to the trust fund established to help former PBA players who are in need of financial assistance.
The donation was made special by the announcement of no less than the countrys most recognizable athlete and former Toyota basketball superstar, Sen. Robert Jaworski. It came as a surprise prelude to a long-awaited reunion match between the rivals Toyota and Crispa team.
The announcement of Sen. Jaworski was met by a huge roar of approval from the capacity crowd in Araneta Coliseum. The first vice president of Toyota Motor Phils., Daniel Isla made the donation in behalf of the number one automotive company in the Philippines.
In a statement, Isla praised the PBA and its athletes for the promotion of the sport in the country. "The PBA has remained as the most popular basketball league in Asia because of the heroics of its players. Toyota is giving due recognition to all these heroes who have given their best to entertain us as well as promote the spirit of athleticism and sportsmanship in the country."
He also attributed Toyotas success to the glorious spirit of its basketball team in the 1970s. "The Toyota championship basketball team then and the Toyota Motor Philippines now carry the same passion and spirit that carried us to our victories! We will continue to work and serve our customers with the same passion Toyota has always been known for," he added.
