Coke seeks entry into Invitational vs SLR
May 23, 2003 | 12:00am
Veteran Vergel Meneses is expected to lead the FedEx assault as the Express play the San Miguel Beermen while Sta. Lucia and Coca-Cola take a shot at the last outright berth in the Asian Invitationals in the Samsung PBA All-Filipino Cup double-header at the Makati Coliseum today. Both FedEx and SMB can afford to lose this game at 5 p.m. having made it to the quarterfinals and also in the Invitationals.
The Realtors and the Tigers clash in the 7:30 p.m. mainer.
Sta. Lucia, Coca-Cola and Alaska are the three remaining teams in contention for the fifth slot in the mid-season tourney. The Tigers claim it automatically if they beat the Realtors tonight. If they miss it against the Realtors, the Tigers have a second chance to nail it versus the Express in their last game in the elims.
The first four teams to make it to the second conference are Red Bull, FedEx, San Miguel Beer and Talk N Text.
