BF Homes tops Nokia intervillage south series

-
BF Homes edged Alabang Hills by the slimmest of margins, 291-290, to top the first round of the Nokia Intervillage South golf tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Trece Martirez, Cavite Monday.

It was the most closely-fought sectoral event so far in the three-month-long series sponsored by Nokia with last year’s division champion Tahanan finishing third just five points behind BF Homes at 286. More so, four other teams — Alabang 400, Marcelo Green, Philamlife-Las Piñas and Merville Park stood within striking distance, making the final round of the 36-hole event truly an event to watch on June 23.

Alabang 400 placed fourth with 281, Marcelo scored 278 for fifth, while Philamlife-Las Piñas and Merville pooled 265 and 262 points, respectively, under the Stableford scoring system.

Rounding out the standings in the tournament among villages in Parañaque, Muntinlupa and Las Piñas are Levitown-Don Bosco (253), Pilar Village Golf (232) and United Parañaque (218).

Bart Puzon, Frank Puzon and Rurik Santos each scored 38 points for BF Homes, which also drew 37 points from Francisco Gutierrez, 36 points from Gus Tambunting, a couple of 35 points from Boy Sabarillo and Ely de Guzman even as Ed Batac scored 34 points to round out scoring for the team.
