RP Seniors Open fires off tomorrow

Close to 70 players are expected to vie top honors in various divisions in the Philippine Seniors Amateur Open which gets underway tomorrow at the Palmer Course of the Orchard Golf and Country Club in Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Defending champion and former Philippine Sports commissioner Richie Garcia heads the cast in the premier Open division, a 54-hole stroke play tournament exclusively for players 55 to 59 years old.
Also on tap in the three-day tournament is a 36-hole age-group competition, according to the organizing National Golf Association of the Philippines, with those aged 60-64 to compose Category II, 65-69 Category III, 70-74 Super Senior, and 75 and above Super Senior II.
Expected to foil Garcia on his title-retention bid are Ilumunado Advincula, Edwin Arcilla, Iggy Clavecilla, Alex Montelibano, Bing Bunye, Ernesto Bunye, Carlos Coscolluela, Antonio Sarmiento, Jr., Oca Soriano, Boy Ungson, Ray Escuadro, Sengyo Kato, Akiyoshi Miyazaki and Danny Dalija.
