Blu Star out to check skid vs lowly Welcoat

Blu Star and Welcoat Paints collide today with the former out to check its three-game losing skein and the latter hoping to keep its flickering semis hopes alive in the Sunkist-PBL Unity Cup at the Makati Coliseum.

Despite their skid, the Detergent Kings remain the leader in the Luzon division with a 3-4 (win-loss) mark although coach Leo Isaac is hardpressed to finally score a victory that would boost his wards’ confidence again.

The Paint Masters, on the other hand, are currently at the cellar with a 2-5 card and coach Leo Austria needs the win badly to improve their standing and stay in the hunt for one of the three automatic semifinals slots.

Meanwhile, John-O, currently 5-2, battles Montana in the 4 p.m. main game, raring to come up with a follow-up to its big 83-74 triumph over LBC-Batangas the last time out. A victory would move the team a win from clinching a semis slot.

The Blu Star versus Welcoat match will be telecast over Solar Sports Cable Channel 29 at 6 p.m. while the battle between John-O and Montana will be aired over NBN at 10 p.m.
