World Golf League offers new concept for amateur players

-
The World Golf League, which allows amateur golfers of all handicaps and abilities to play like the professionals, will make its debut in the local golfing scene when it fires off May 14 at the Riviera Golf and Country Club course in Silang, Cavite.

WGL is a four-year-old Florida—based corporation currently based in Altamonte Springs Florida, a suburb of Orlando. Jersey Bay Ten, Inc., headed by Charlie Bathan, purchased the franchise of WGL Philippines in June 2002.

"The golf industry of the Philippines offers the WGL a perfect market for its unique concept," said Bathan, adding the concept of WGL offer amateurs to feel how it is to play like the pros, where every stroke counts, and big money is on the line.

Currently, the WGL has 56 licensee territories in the United States and 27 different international licensee territories throughout the world.

It also caters to all ages as it has an adult division for golfers 18 and above and the junior division and golfers 17 and below.

Amateur golfers can be a WGL member and compete in the WGL tournaments for an annual membership fee of only P6,000. In addition, members will receive an exclusive WGL membership card with benefits valued at over $4,000.
