Jungolfers begin quest for world tourney berths

-
Free tickets to Los Angeles await the division winners of the third leg of the Samsung Jungolf Tour, the local qualifier for the Callaway Junior World Championships, firing off today in two venues.

Endurance will add up to the challenge of shotmaking skills and mental toughness for the 162 kids who will be fighting it out in a gruelling 72-hole battle at the Manila Southwoods Legends (Classes A, B and C) and Riviera Executive courses (Classes D and E).

The results of the event will determine the composition of the 24-player Philippine delegation to the Junior World in San Diego, California this coming July with the Tour’s co-presenter Philippine Airlines flying all age-group champs for free.

Electrobus Consolidated, the local distributor of Callaway, is also awarding special prizes for the winners. The regular co-sponsors of the Tour are Airlift Asia, Air Liquide Phils., Global Lighting and Exito Manufacturing.

Pisanti, Bellevue Manila, Third World Eximport, HBW Enterprises, MCCI Corp. and BF Technology are minor sponsors.

"We are on a winning streak and we hope that the next batch of Junior World bets will keep it going. I’ve seen a lot of promising kids who can make 2003 another big year for jungolf," said Jungolf chair Amalia "Mommy" Montecillo.
