Superal keeps fiery run, leads by 24

-
Red-hot Wolen Juan Superal kept his fiery form with a one-under-par 71 yesterday to virtually clinch his third straight title, streaking to a 24-stroke lead in Class D of the Samsung Jungolf Tour at the Faldo course of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club.

A day after sparkling with the tour’s best score so far of five-under 67, Superal continued to play in a far different level than his hapless rivals and charged home with a 138 total for 36 holes against the 162 of the second-running Migs Arevalo.

Remijin Camping (girls Class A), Geleen Handog (girls Class B), Bino dela Paz (boys Class E) and Gian Sibaya (girls Class E) also got themselves in the mood for runaway victories in the face of inferior opposition as most of the top guns decided to rest for next week’s Junior World qualifying.

The frontrunners in the other divisions, however, were in for a thrilling finish.

The tourney given major backing by Samsung is also supported by Philippine Airlines, Airlift Asia, Exito Mfg., Global Lighting and Air Liquide Phils with Wilson Sports as equipment sponsor.

Marlo Capinianes (81-162) was just up by one over Aran Olea and Aaron Dimabuyo in boys Class A while Gino Bunye carded a 76 to seize a two-shot lead over Miko Yee and by four over first day leader Tonton Asistio with his 155 total in boys Class B. Sun Mi Huang paced Annika Martinez in girls Class E.

In Class C, Anelo Asistio stayed on top by one over Brent Sumampong despite an 88-170 and it couldn’t be tighter in the girls side as Bambi dela Paz and Debbie de Villa matched 84s to tie for the lead at 176.

Meanwhile, Jungolf president Gerry Handog announced those playing in the Junior World Qualifying at Southwoods and Riviera next week must register on or before Good Friday. They may call the Jungolf office at 4219612 or Mr. Handog at 09178968137.

Handog said that players will not be included in the pairings if they fail to register before Friday.
