Fourth choice High Octane put on a rare display of staying power as he stunned a star-studded field to rule the second leg of the Road to Triple Crown at the Santa Ana Park last night.
Storming past top favorite Success Story as they passed the judges stand, High Octane, the coupled entry of Reigns Supreme, never relinquished the lead, thwarting West Bounds bid from the outside and longshot Moneylines rally by the rail to win by a head. The Dominador Borbe-steered bay colt was timed 1:42.6 over 1,600 meters with quartertimes of 24-25-24 28 and won another P450,000 for Hermie Esguerra.
West Bound finished second followed by Diktador and Success Story. R. Romualdez
