Davao clouters bag PRISAA title

University of Mindanao, representing Region 11, leaned on the superb pitching of Edmer del Soccorro and Faxon Umandak to beat Region 5s University of Northeastern Philippines, 14-1, in the finals of the baseball tournament of the PRISAA in Angeles City.
Ten teams divided into two groups, played a one round robin elims with the top two teams moving into the semis.
After the crossover semis, Region 11 emerged number one in group A and Region V topped group B. Region III represented by Angeles University Foundation placed second in group A and Region VII placed second in group B. Region VII won third placebeating Region III, 7-6.
After the championship game, Philippine Amateur Baseball Association president Hector Navasero, assisted by tournament director Ely Baradas, presented the awards. Del Soccorro won the best pitcher and MVP awards while Dominique Doctolero of Region V won the most homeruns and slugging awards. Boy Sarabia was best coach.
