PETALING JAYA, Malaysia Filipina Liza del Rosario edged Malaysian wonder Shalin Zulkifli, 255-246, Saturday to crown herself champion of the 26th Malaysian International Open at the Pyramid Megalanes here.
Del Rosario, a 25-year-old charmer, thus avenged her semifinal loss in the Aviva Asian Bowling Tour Grand Slam Finals in Singapore last January to Zulkifli, who topped the event.
Another Filipino, comebacking Paulo Valdez, was not as fortunate as del Rosario as he lost to Malaysian Azidi Ameran, 205-279, in lopsided fashion in the stepladder finals of the mens division.
Other Philippine bets who participated in this event were Chester King, Biboy Rivera and Cecilia Yap.<
