-
Sen. Robert Barbers, chairman of the Senate committee on games, amusements and sports, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the third Gabriel "Flash" Elorde Memorial Sports Awards to be held March 25 at the Manila Peninsula Hotel.

Barbers will also be on hand to present the Top Boxer of the Year award to International Boxing Federation superbantamweight champion Manny Pacquiao, 13 international titleholders and 18 Philippine champions during formal rites where outstanding sports leaders will also be honored for their contribution to professional boxing.

Johnny Lear held the vacant Philippine bantamweight title from September to December.
