Ilocos Norte bets reign supreme in IRAA

MANAOAG, Pangasinan – Ilocos Norte capped its big show of force by winning the overall titles in the elementary and high school divisions as the Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) meet came to a close yesterday at the Manaoag National High School Athletic ground here.

Fully supported by Gov. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Ilocos Norte DepEd headed by District Superintendent Ligaya Miguel and the province’s sports czar Michael Keon, the IN elementary took a total of 47 golds.

In the secondary level, they were more devastating by winning 67 gold medals, beating the entire collection of the whole province of Pangasinan, including Dagupan City, which had a total 64.

In yesterday’s final competition, Ilocos Norte won nine more golds in Little League baseball, elementary gymnastics, and in sepak takraw in the elementary division.

In the secondary division, it won 11, ruling football, nine in baseball, gymnastics, archery and table tennis and one in athletics for a total of 29.

Kimberly Paculat dominated the gymnastics competition in the secondary level, winning five and becoming the most bemedalled athlete in the event.

Last year, while competing in the elementary level, she was also adjudged as the most bemedalled gymnast.

In the elementary division, Flor Amy Acoba won the gold in the individual all around, ball and ribbon competition while Lerisee Silna Ramos ruled the hoop competition as the two winners combined their points to place first in the team rhythmic event.
