Ilocos Norte virtual IRAA overall titlist

MANAOAG, Pangasinan — Ilocos Norte virtually retained the overall championship of the Ilocos Region Athletic Association (IRAA) meet for the third time with another surge of 12 golds yesterday at the Manaoag National High School Athletic ground here.

The Ilocos Norte contingent scored in elementary girls volleyball over Pangasinan II, 2-1, and the secondary volleyball girls division over defending champion San Carlos, 3-1.

With the Ilocanos beyond recall in both elementary and secondary divisions with a total of 25 and 45, respectively, focus is now in the race for second and third honors in the elementary division which is being contested by Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan and La Union.

A win by Ilocos Sur in the Little League baseball will give them a total of 16 and tie La Union while Pangasinan has to win its basketball game to join I.S. and L.U. with 16 golds apiece.
