Gatchalian, pal rule Bill Shaw golf

Business tycoon William Gatchalian and his guest partner Angel Umali assembled a net 26-under-par 190 aggregate for two days to capture the overall title in the 14th annual Bill Shaw Memorial Golf Classic presented by Samsung at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club over the weekend.
Gatchalian and Umali scored a 62 in scramble play at the east course then returned the next day to submit a whopping 128 at the west course, winning by two net strokes over Jesus Montemayor-Cesar Hernandez in the tourney fully supported by electronics giant Samsung.
Montemayor-Hernandez, who had 62-130-192, settled for the Group II crown finishing far ahead of Renato Magadia and Boy Ampil (62-134-196) in a competition that featured 185 member-guest teams which vied for prizes totaling more than P2 million.
The 217 posted by Gary Go and Damas Wong won them the prestigious low gross award. The other winners were Bong Tan and Marvin Dy in Group I and Pacifico Villaluz-Julio Templonuevo in Group III.
Bing Liboro-Therese Dabao won the accompanying Ladies Bill Shaw with their 62-135-197 effort, pushing them four strokes ahead of Veronica Veloso and Medy Agustin in the final standings.
Comelec chairman Ben Abalos, also chair of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, and Tonichi Tuason, chair of the sports and games committee, awarded the prizes to the winners, including Vic Sianghio Jr. who went home with the grand raffle prize, a Tudor hydronaut watch.
The Toyota Camry put up by Toyota-Otis, the two Mitsubishi Lancer GLS 1600s and Yamaha cart staked by Kart Plaza Manufacturing as hole-in-one prizes were not won.
