The hitting of ceremonial balls by Comelec chair Ben Abalos, chair of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, and Tonichi Tuason, chair of the sports and games committee, yesterday ushered in the 36-hole tourney at Wack Wacks East and West courses.
A Toyota Camry, two Mitsubishi Lancer GLS 1600s and a Yamaha cart top a grand package of prizes worth more than P2 million up for grabs. They will be awarded to players who score aces on designated holes.
The father-and-son pair of Angel and Robert Concepcion will be defending the overall title in the 36-hole event backed by the First Gentleman Foundation, Inc., Golforce, Custom Clubmakers and Unilever Philippines as major sponsors.
Hole sponsors are Caltex Havoline, Splash, Pacific Paint & Oil Mfg., Citra Metro Tollways, Synergymed, PLDT, PCSO, Beauty Exponents, PICP, Gema Coco Food Corp., Matsushita Phils., GG&A Club Shares, Atty. Gilberto Duavit, Immuvit Multi-Vitamins, Standard Chartered Bank, Del Monte, GNC, Gatorade, Pacsports, Forest Hills, Air Philippines, Discovery Suites, The South Spa, Nestle Phils. and The Plaza.
Two different formats ensure an exciting battle for the overall title and division honors as well as the ladies Bill Shaw competition. Those assigned to tee off in the East course will play the scramble format while teams in the West side will be playing the aggregate mode.
Also coinciding with the final round tomorrow of the Bill Shaw is the grand finals of the Samsung Putting Challenge (not today as reported earlier) where a brand new car and appliances are also at stake.
