Focus on top bets as action resumes today

BORACAY – Action in the 15th Boracay International Funboard Cup resumes today in the pristine waters of this island paradise with Australian Robbie Radis and lady riders Nenette Graf of the Philippines and Yun Hee Lim of Korea seeking to sustain fine performances they showed in the initial round of slalom Wednesday.

With maximum wind speeds of 18 knots, Radis managed to clock 50.5 kph while Graf and Yun the same speed of 38.8 kph in the first round of this competition, serving as the fourth leg of the Adecco Asian Windsurfing Tour presented by Foster’s.

The riders welcomed the rest yesterday.

"The past few weeks have been so intense it’s actually really nice to have a day off. We completed 15 races in Bintan, Indonesia last week and a full round of slalom plus the speed trials here, so it’s great to give the muscles a rest," said Radis.

"If you want to chill out, this is a great place to do it," he added.

In addition to the downwind slalom racing, speed trials were also held in the neighboring bay. Only one windsurfer entered the course at a time. Speed trial marshals gauged the speed of the windsurfer using a radar gun often used by traffic police.

At sunset, the sailors prepared for another day of action at the Windpia Windsurfing Club on Bulabog Beach.

The Adecco Asian Windsurfing Tour, presented by Foster’s, is being filmed for international TV broadcast. The series of half-hour show will be broadcast in over 100 countries around the world. The first broadcast worldwide will be on Star Sports in April.
