Ateneo appoints Mossesgeld Eagles manager

Ateneo de Manila University President Bienvenido Nebres, S.J., recently announced the appointment of Simon Mossesgeld as the new team manager of the university’s UAAP men’s basketball team effective Jan. 1.

As team manager, he will be primarily responsible for team operations, the players’ general welfare, formation and conduct; the team staff, both coaching and support staffs; coordination with the various university offices regarding the team’s needs.

He is also tasked with maintaining a close working relationship with the student body, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, parents and other supporters as well as handle media relations. All events involving the team and the formulation of school policies that affect the team will henceforth be coursed through him.

After 25 years of service with the Ayala Corporation occupying mostly positions in the area of Human Resources Development, Mossesgeld recently retired as associate director of Ayala Corporation and manager of Research, Training and Organizational Development of Ayala Land, Inc.

He was the team manager of the Purefoods PBA basketball team from Jan. 1996-Dec. 1998.

For the past four years, he has also been active in the Ayala Young Leaders Congress as a resource person on leadership and other related topics to different colleges and universities nationwide.

He is an alumnus of the Ateneo (GS ’60, HS ’64, College ’69 with masteral units in Education and Psychology) and was with the Ateneo grade school for eight years as a teacher and student counselor early in his career.
