Disabled pugs to receive aid

Destitute and disabled Filipino professional boxers will receive long-awaited financial assistance on Jan. 31 at the Games and Amusements Boards main office on the second floor of Legaspi Towers 200, along Paseo de Roxas in Makati City.
President Arroyo has been invited to lead the distribution of funds set at 4 p.m.
GAB chairman Eduardo Villanueva, who is also head of the Disabled Filipino Boxers Trust Fund, and the two members of the Board of TrusteesPhilippine Boxing Association president Gov. Raul Daza and Philippine Sportswriters Association president Roberto Cuevas will assist President Arroyo.
"Its not much, but the (monetary) support will definitely help alleviate the plight of former boxers," said Villanueva of the upcoming dole-out.
The Disabled Filipino Boxers Trust Fund was established by virtue of R.A. No. 1373 authorizing the Philippine Sportswriters Association to hold one benefit boxing show every year, the net proceeds of which shall benefit disabled pugs.
