Villamor hosts biggest leg of Samsung Challenge

The Villamor Golf Club stages what is expected to be the biggest of all the legs in the Samsung Putting Challenge calendar today and tomorrow with another 10 tickets to the grand finals to be disputed as well as a chance to get a step closer to a brand new car.

The weekend competition at a makeshift 9-hole course at the club’s practice green beside the clubhouse starts at 7 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m.

Coming on the heels of a well-received trip to Cebu, the Villamor leg will cap the 2002 schedule of the Samsung DigitAll Challenge, a major golf project of the electronics giant which also includes a stroke play competition and an interscholastics event.

Boy Blue Ocampo, head of the Professional Sports Management Group (PSMG) staging the event for Samsung, said that the central location of Villamor and the perfect timing of the leg when most Metro Manilans are getting ready for the holiday break should attract a big number of players to the putting contest.

The putting tourney is sponsored by TaylorMade Adidas, Gatorade, Maxfli, Custom Clubmakers, Hotshots Flame-Grilled Burgers. Wave 89.1, City Lite 88.3, 103.5K-Lite, Magic 89.9, Killer Bee and 99.5 RT are radio partners.
