Leongson best in Clark motocross

Rider of the Year Ernie Leongson pounced on another misfortune by chief rival Glenn Aguilar to rule the Clark Centennial Invitational Motocross 2002 at the Clark Economic Zone, Clarkfield in Pampanga on Saturday.
Leongson of Shell-Yamaha finished the first heat second to Aguilar but came back mightily to top the second heat to avenge his seventh leg Superferry Motocross series loss to the Caltex-Revtex-KTM rider in this two-day event organized by the Hartebeest Entertainment Corp.
Aguilar actually appeared all set to clinching the second heat but a spill in the second lap had his bike being entangled with the buntings fencing the race course, allowing his rivals to gain on him.
Placing third in the premier pro open next to Leongson and Aguilar is Popeye Rubi.
Jing Leongson, Bebet dela Cruz, Jerry Beech ranked fourth to sixth in the two-day motocross extravaganza presented by Clark Development Corp., Pampanga Off-Roaders and Superferry.
Sanctioned by the Philippine Association of Motorcycle Riders, Inc. or PAMRI, headed by its president Richard Gomez, the motocross event is also sponsored by Petron 2T Autolube, Natures Spring Drinking Water, Seagull Glassworks, Bench, No Fear and Itti Shoes.
