Top karters face their moment of truth as the 2002 Shell Super Karting Series stages its championship round this weekend at the Carmona Circuit Philippines.
Edgesports teammates Ryan Francisco and Jeremy Marquez are headed for a neck-to-neck collision as they dispute the Intercon-A crown of this event sponsored by Pilipinas Shell, WG&A Super Ferry, Bridgestone, Nokia, Zip-Zip, Zed and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office through Chairman Livia "Honeygirl" de Leon and general manager Angelo Ver.
Francisco leads the said division with 307.5 points but Marquez is just close behind with 282 points. Also in strong contention is Tyson Sy who now holds 272.5 points with Edgesports-Motorex Arvin Drueco, and Kart 1s Dado Pena joining the fray in this series sanctioned by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
Even Futura lead driver and defending champion Pepon Marave, who accumulated 362 points, is not yet sure of his bid for a historic third Karter of the Year award as MOFOs Allan Uy now moved closer with 327 points after rulling the Formula A class last leg.
Cebuano and Futura Racings Jan Jan Gonzales holds a precarious 350.5 points in the Formula SL Light as he also expects a rough sail against Kendrick Sy (223 points) and Indy Villalon (298.5 points).
