Abalos to guest in duckpin Open rites

Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos Jr. will be guest of honor at the opening of the 28th National Open duckpin bowling championships on Nov. 23 at the Marketplace Bowling Center along Kalentong street, Mandaluyong.

Mayor Abalos will be introduced by Vice Mayor Jesse Cruz. The two top Mandaluyong officials will make the ceremonial roll at 6 p.m. together with PHDBC president Inez Magbual, Nanding de Castro, Dominic "Essec" Balente, Emma Dinglasan, Remy Princesa and Leah Sunio.

Gift certificates worth P350,000 will be up for grabs in the team and singles (A/B and C) events for men and ladies and mixed doubles.

Major awards are P40,000 and P35,000 for the men’s and ladies’ team, champions, respectively; P12,000 each for the men’s and ladies’ singles (A/B) winners, P10,000 each for the men’s and ladies singles (class C) titlists and P10,000 for the mixed doubles topnotchers.

There will also be special team and individual prizes, according to Magbual.

Duckpin bowlers from 48 teams in Visayas, Mindanao and NCR (National Capital Region) have already registered. Among these are the teams from Bacolod and Iloilo.

The year-end kegfest will end on Dec. 1.
